Volpara Signs Five-Year Deal With Melbourne-Based Imaging Associates

Wellington, NZ, 28th September 2017: Volpara Health Technologies (“Volpara”; ASX: VHT), a digital health company focused on the early detection of breast cancer by improving quality of screening, is pleased to announce that it has signed Imaging Associates to the Company’s industry-leading VolparaEnterprise software. This brings the total number of centres in Australia signed on to the VolparaEnterprise software to three since its launch, and 25 globally.

VolparaEnterprise is a cloud-based quality assurance and performance monitoring software for mammography or tomosynthesis exams, built on Microsoft’s durable Azure platform.

The five-year contract will see both of Imaging Associates’ breast centres benefit from improved image consistency and quality, as well as more accurate radiation dosage, breast compression and personalised breast density assessment for every patient.

Handling 2,500 breast imaging patients annually, this is the first Victorian site to adopt VolparaEnterprise software, and the ninth clinic in Australia to be using a Volpara product.

“It is tremendous to have Imaging Associates, a leading imaging group at the forefront of informing women of their breast density—a proven risk factor for breast cancer—signed up to VolparaEnterprise software,” said Dr Ralph Highnam, CEO of Volpara Health Technologies.

“Imaging Associates is actively working with GP referrers to educate women about the importance of knowing their own breast density, and referring them for additional screening where necessary. It also provides them an edge in the competitive imaging diagnostics space.”

The software has already proven its value, detecting a quality control and calibration issue that was dutifully avoided because of the powerful monitoring and assessment analytics of VolparaEnterprise software.

Dr Daniel Lee, Radiologist, Clinical Director at Imaging Associates, said of the deal: “Breast imaging is a subjective imaging modality where results of tests are dependent on the quality of imaging. It is important that measures are available to objectively assess image quality. VolparaEnterprise software enables us to do this, and thus assures us that we are providing the best quality of service to our patients that we can.”

In addition to Imaging Associates, Volpara’s APAC sales team has also signed on new clients to its VolparaDensity and VolparaEnterprise products in South Korea and Taiwan.

“Kyunghee University Gangdong Hospital, a leading university hospital in Seoul, will commence using VolparaDensity software to help personalise their breast screening workflow,” said Paul Clancy, Volpara’s Regional Sales Manager for Asia Pacific. “Generally, Korean women have high breast density, and VolparaDensity software will help identify this in the first instance, and may reduce unnecessary ultrasound referrals.

“Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan has signed on to the VolparaEnterprise system for the next two years to evaluate its role in automating PGMI (Perfect, Good, Moderate, Inadequate) assessment locally now, and eventually nationally in their screening program. The hospital has already been using VolparaDensity software for the past two years and, using the technology, was able to determine that 83.5 percent of their population has high breast density. It’s promising to see other regions adopting cloud-based technologies within digital health.” ENDS.
