LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) today announced the launch of the http://www.actlikeaman.org/ website with the help of technology solutions provider Kintera(R) Inc. . The site will complement the PCF's new public awareness campaign, "Act. Like a Man." which seeks to transform divisive energy into positive statements about what men have in common and the fact that although men have differences, they share equal vulnerability to prostate cancer. The site will operate largely to generate awareness and act as a draw for research funding.
"As we know, prostate cancer does not discriminate in who it afflicts -- one in six American men will have prostate cancer at some point in their lives, and 30,000 men a year die from the disease," said Leslie D. Michelson, vice chairman and CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. "The ActLikeAMan.org website reflects the importance of fighting the disease through every possible means available, to aid in the funding for research and testing."
In June 2004, the PCF deployed Kintera's Content Management System (CMS) to restructure and launch an in-depth 250-page website which offers comprehensive information about prostate cancer prevention, detection and treatments for patients, the latest information on research to find better treatments, PCF's accomplishments, and ways for people to provide support. This website demonstrates that the PCF is the authoritative resource on prostate cancer. Please visit http://www.prostatecancerfoundation.org/ for more information.
The PCF is also using the Kintera Sphere(TM) software platform for customer relationship management (CRM), Kintera's Friends Asking Friends(R) solicitation program, secure online donations and web-based communication tools to manage eNewsletters and "Spread the Word" grassroots marketing. The PCF website allows the Foundation to clearly communicate in real time with supporters, and enables them to form a true community with a common cause.
Since partnering with Kintera, the PCF has experienced a doubling of visitor time spent on their website and a 1,000-fold increase in online registered users.
