John Orwin is out — sort of — at beleagured Affymax Inc. Orwin will step down from his CEO job May 15 as The Brenner Group Inc., a Cupertino restructuring firm, launches a company-wide restructuring plan. Orwin, however, will remain on Affymax’s board of directors. Palo Alto-based Affymax (NASDAQ: AFFY) said it will appoint a Brenner Group representative as CEO “in the coming weeks” and name Brenner Group personnel as company officers.
