INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- AIT Laboratories, a leading forensics, pain management, clinical, and pharmaceutical testing facility, is announcing the expansion of its pharmaceutical services and has chosen an industry veteran to lead the division. AIT has named Ronald Shoup, former co-founder and chief scientific officer of West Lafayette-based Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. , as its executive director of Pharma Services. “Ron brings 30 years of leadership, entrepreneurship, and scientific expertise to AIT as we look to expand our facility to meet the growing needs of the Pharma industry,” said AIT President and CEO Michael A. Evans, Ph.D.
AIT supports clinical trials through its current drug analysis services and expects to offer regulated bioanalytical services for preclinical development in the future. Almost 20 years of experience in sample management enables AIT to offer the highest quality of organization for the collection, distribution, maintenance, and reconciliation of samples from clinical studies. As a premier leader in the application of mass spectrometry for biological samples, AIT routinely develops, validates, and performs mass spectrometry analysis in support of new drug development.
“My experience in analytical chemistry, regulatory audits, and the Pharma/biotech industry has given me challenging opportunities to solve scientific problems in drug development,” said Shoup. “I know that my skills can help AIT to further enhance its success and reputation in the industry.”
As pharmaceutical companies are going more towards their core business of making drugs, AIT is filling a need of providing superior bioanalytical testing in support of clinical trials. “Pharmaceutical companies are demanding high-quality, bioanalytical testing, analyses of biological samples, regulatory compliance, a commitment to quality assurance, robust methods development, and state-of-the-art technology,” said AIT Chief Scientific Officer Andrea Terrell, Ph.D. “AIT provides all of these services to our clients.”
AIT is a company that boasts an impressive collection of more than 100 bioanalytical assay methods, which identify over 300 drugs using some of the most advanced instrumentation in the industry. Through the innovations of its dedicated staff and scientists using multiple mass spectrometers and tandem mass spectrometer detectors coupled with GC, HPLC, and UPLC chromatography systems, AIT has seen phenomenal growth in its current markets over the past several years and is now using that success to further pursue the pharmaceutical industry. “I loved the growth story at AIT, and it was obvious to me that the company’s culture and flexibility has allowed it to respond to its fast-growing markets,” said Shoup.
