Sacramento, Calif. – Food safety solutions company RF Biocidics today announced the sale of multiple machines to international food harvester and distributor, Sesajal. The sale expands RF Biocidics’ global footprint in the food safety industry, and following planned delivery and installation this fall, will allow Sesajal to produce high-quality foods without applying harsh chemicals during the pasteurization process.
“RF Biocidics’ partnership with Sesajal is an important step to bringing safe foods to consumers in Mexico and around the world,” said RF Biocidics Chief Executive Officer Craig Powell. “Our technology can be used to treat a variety of foods and I’m thrilled that distributors recognize that.”
Mexico-based Sesajal harvests and distributes a variety of consumer products including vegetable oils, oily seeds and organic beans and flours. The company offers high-quality organic food products and operates in more than 20 countries across the globe.
“Our partnership with RF Biocidics is the realization of our ongoing commitment to bring safe, organic products to the marketplace. This is an important step for our company, our grower community and our customers,” said Sesajal CEO Inigo Gonzalez Covarrubias.
The first RF Biocidics APEX machine included in the sale will be installed in Sesajal’s facility in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where it will be used to treat chia seeds, chickpeas, sesame seeds and peanuts. Roughly 50 percent of products from this facility will be shipped to the United States for consumer purchase, and the remainder will be sold in regions of Asia, Europe and other places in Mexico.
Unlike traditional food pasteurization methods that use chemicals and may diminish foods’ nutritional value, RF Biocidics employs volumetric heating to remove pests and bacteria using radio frequency waves. The process is environmentally friendly and suitable for use on both conventionally and organically grown products, and is gentle enough to maintain a food’s nutrient content, texture, color and taste.
RF Biocidics’ patented food safety process was developed at the University of California, Davis. RF Biocidics seeks to change the way the food industry looks at food safety and the natural environment. The company brings together the brightest minds in biology, microbiology, engineering, food safety and mathematics to revolutionize the way people think about the food they eat. A subsidiary of Boston-based Allied Minds (LSE: ALM), RF Biocidics serves clientele in the food and commodities industries across the globe, from the U.S. and Europe to the Middle East, South America, Australia and now Mexico.
