Smart Document Solutions Founder And CEO Turns Over Reins

ALPHARETTA, Ga., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Smart Document Solutions (SDS) Founder, President and CEO John Smart has decided to step down as president and CEO while remaining active on the company’s board of directors. SDS is the leading provider of “release of information” (ROI) services to the medical industry.

Smart has selected Frank Murphy as the new president and CEO of Smart Document Solutions. Murphy served as president of Per-Se Technologies’ Physician Services division. Per-Se is the only national provider of business management outsourcing services to hospital-affiliated physicians in the United States. He had been president of the division since 2001. In his role, he was responsible for the delivery of services for revenue cycle management, cost management and practice management information systems to more than 15,000 physician clients nationwide. Per-Se is a publicly traded company based in Atlanta. Murphy, who joined Per-Se in 1998, also held several senior management positions with the company, including senior vice president - operations, Physician Services division, as well as senior vice president, academic medicine and multispecialty services.

Murphy brings more than 22 years of healthcare experience to SDS. Prior to joining Per-Se, he held various leadership positions in the industry, including president and chief executive officer of Trident Regional Health Systems in Charleston, S.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). He also served as regional director responsible for 14 hospitals of an investor-owned company as well as president of a healthcare consulting firm.

Murphy earned a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in healthcare management from Duke University.
