BioCareSD today announced the continued expansion of specialty therapies offered for their customer base by bringing on board BIMZELX, a prescription medication used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

TEMPE, AZ, November 13, 2023 – BioCareSD today announced the continued expansion of specialty therapies offered for their customer base by bringing on board BIMZELX, a prescription medication used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Recently approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), BIMZELX is available in prefilled syringes or autoinjectors for patients to administer at home.

“BioCareSD is thrilled to introduce this groundbreaking specialty therapy that has received FDA approval, offering a much-needed treatment option for our valued customers and their patients battling plaque psoriasis,” said Jeff Beck, Chief Development Officer at BioCare. “This milestone signifies a significant advancement in improving specialty therapies that bring new hope to the medical community and the individuals we proudly serve.”

In combined clinical trials, adults taking BIMZELX found their plaque psoriasis saw positive results. In 16 weeks, 9 out of 10 people saw 90% clearer skin, and more than 6 out of 10 adults experienced 100% clearer skin. After one dose, most adults were seeing 75% clear skin at 4 weeks. Results were lasting whereby 9 out of 10 people who experienced clear skin at week 16 maintained that clearance through week 52.

This FDA-approved therapy offers a new treatment option for adult patients with plaque psoriasis, the most common form of psoriasis. Roughly 80 to 90 percent of people living with psoriasis experience plaque psoriasis. It originates inside the body as a result of an overactive immune system that causes inflammation. On the skin, this inflammation appears as an abnormal buildup of cells called plaques, which are raised, reddish, flaky, and scaly in appearance. Plaques can appear anywhere on the body with some of the most prevalent areas being the scalp, ear canals, elbows, lower back, belly button, soles of the feet, knees, palms, and nails. Patients with plaque psoriasis typically experience unseen symptoms such as itching, pain, and impacts to their overall emotional health. Plaque psoriasis can range from mild to moderate to severe; moderate cases can affect 3-10% of the skin’s surface whereas severe cases can affect more than 10%.
