Cancer Treatment Centers Of America Names Dr. Jesus Esquivel National Director of HIPEC Research and Medical Director of Global Oncological Services

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has announced the appointment of Jesus Esquivel, MD, as the National Director of HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy). Based out of CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Esquivel will oversee the organization’s national HIPEC research.

Dr. Esquivel, an American Board of Surgery certified surgeon, graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas Medical School before becoming a surgical intern at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. While working for the New York Hospital of Queens in Flushing, NY, Dr. Esquivel held positions of General Surgery Resident and Chief Surgical Resident. Dr. Esquivel is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society of Surgical Oncology, a member of the International Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology and a member of the American Society of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies.

Dr. Esquivel’s past experience includes positions in Social Service in Mexico, as Attending Physician of General and Oncology Surgery at Kaiser Permanente, and as Director of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies at St. Agnes Health Care Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Esquivel has been an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Adjunct Member of the United States Military Cancer Institute. Dr. Esquivel performed his fellowship at the Washington Cancer Institute for Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology.

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Esquivel has been published in over 60 journal articles and has contributed to three different books on HIPEC and Peritoneal Malignancies. Dr. Esquivel is an experienced presenter and has been invited to share his research at conferences throughout the world.
