GlaxoSmithKline to Close Sirtris Pharmaceuticals Cambridge Office, Relocate Some Staff to Philly

Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline has now confirmed it is proposing to move staff from its research and development complex in Harlow next year (2014). In a statement released after the Star broke the news that the company is planning to close one of its buildings at Pinnacles, the company issued the following statement: “We know that opportunities exist to increase collaboration across R&D by effective co-location of key groups to speed decision-making and information sharing. We want to create more of these partnerships across the business and so we are proposing torelocate employees from one of our buildings at Harlow to our other facilities at Ware or Stevenage. “We want to create the best possible work environment, approach, skills and technology to ensure that GSK continues to be a leader in R&D in the UK for the next 10 to 20 years. “These plans are at an early stage of development. We are providing employees with a view of our proposed intentions today before we have the detail on proposed locations and timing. We realise that this doesn’t offer the detail some may need but we’re commited to bringing any proposals to staff for consultation as soon as plans become available.
