PITTSBURGH, /PRNewswire/ -- “My 5-year-old daughter has a colostomy bag,” said an inventor from Warrenton, Virginia. “She loves to play like other kids, and I wanted to protect her colostomy bag. Because she will crawl on her stomach, I had to design a way to prevent blowouts.”

He created a prototype for AMY’S CAP to prevent a blowout of stool from getting beneath the wafer. The accessory ensures that stool goes into the bag and not underneath the wafer. The unit keeps the bag from leaking, which saves the user from potential embarrassment. The device also makes it easier to clean out the bag following use. In addition, all of this provides added peace of mind.

The original design was submitted to the Richmond office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
