OnCure Medical Corp. Names David Chernow as Chief Executive Officer

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of OnCURE Medical Corp., a leading provider of radiation therapy through its treatment centers located in California and Florida, today announced the appointment of David S. Chernow as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Chernow is currently a director of OnCURE and will continue to serve as a member of the Board.

OnCURE Medical, headquartered in Newport Beach, California, owns, operates and manages treatment centers exclusively focused on providing the most state- of-the-art radiation treatment alternatives. OnCURE and its physician partners provide radiation therapy services to more than 30 free-standing treatment centers in California and Florida.

Mr. Chernow is an experienced healthcare executive who has served as a senior operating executive and was co-founder of oncology services provider American Oncology Resources (AOR), which is currently US Oncology. “David is a true leader with a proven record of success as a builder of businesses,” said Dr. Shyam Paryani, Chairman and Medical Director of OnCURE. “He knows our company and industry very well and we are enthusiastic about his ability to effectively accelerate our growth and to help target and integrate future acquisitions as we work toward our goal to be the leader in cancer care.”

Since 2004, Mr. Chernow has been President and CEO of JA Worldwide. Prior to JA Worldwide Mr. Chernow was the President of the Physician Services Group at publicly traded US Oncology, responsible for the operational and developmental management of its physician network which oversaw 73 comprehensive cancer centers, 850 physicians, 450 sites of services and 8,000 employees in 26 states. Mr. Chernow was the co-founder of AOR in 1992 and was its Chief Development Officer prior to its merger with another company to form US Oncology in 1999.

Mr. Chernow earned his JD at Pepperdine University and his undergraduate degree from UCLA. He serves as a member of the Board of several healthcare companies, including the Advisory Boards of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and the School of Social Enterprise at Harvard Business School.
