Located in Genetown, one of the world’s hottest areas for biotech jobs, Boston, MA is a great option for those who want a front seat to the latest research and development in the industry without the competition of its neighboring city, Cambridge.
The city’s most prominent industry player in terms of market cap is Vertex Pharmaceuticals, followed by Biogen, The Boston Globe reported in September 2022. However, these companies are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of opportunity for those working in biotech.
Local public radio station WBUR reported that as of 2017, the city housed over 1,000 biotech-related businesses, partly due to a $500 million investment from former governor Gov. Charlie Baker that was part of the larger Massachusetts Life Sciences Initiative.
