PORT ARTHUR, Texas, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Park Place Medical Center and Mid-Jefferson Hospital jointly announced today that they have engaged Nashville-based Aegis to assist in developing and implementing a community-based effort designed to improve local health and save local employers significant dollars in their healthcare expenditures. Working in partnership with local employers, the two hospitals and Aegis will utilize proprietary, confidential information to identify the health risks of employees related to specific diseases such as heart, cancer, diabetes, etc. At-risk employees will then be matched with appropriate hospital-based programs focusing on early detection, prevention and education initiatives.

Aegis has also provided a hospital-based employer relations specialist to oversee the program and help cultivate employer relationships on a day-to-day basis.
Park Place Medical Center, part of Iasis Healthcare, is a 244-bed facility featuring one of the strongest cardiology programs in Texas. In addition to its outstanding open-heart surgery program, the hospital has two cardiac catheterization labs.
