SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interwoven, Inc. , the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that healthcare innovator, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has extended its use of the Interwoven ECM platform by adding Interwoven WorkSite MP Server software for a Board of Directors' application. With WorkSite MP, Board members and company executives will be able to review and collaborate on all the documents associated with Board meetings. Interwoven was chosen for its ease-of-use and because it allowed the shortest time to implementation, six weeks from start to finish with the help of Interwoven consulting partner Interflow Systems Consulting.
"WorkSite MP will allow us to transform the way our Board works with each other and with senior staff," says Doug Fonseca, assistant vice president, e-Commerce at BCBSRI. "Not only does it improve productivity by allowing collaboration in advance of the actual meetings, it also allows the company to enforce its own governance policies."
The new Board of Directors' system will replace an entirely manual process whereby Board members were mailed three-ring binders filled with materials prior to the meeting. There was limited opportunity for Directors to comment on material in advance. Industry regulations and BCBSRI's own policies require increased accountability, and the ability to have access to materials, ask questions, and provide comments. The new system allows the Board to have a more active role and also gives the company a better means of collaborating with the Board.
Ease of use, including browser-based access, was a top criterion for the BCBSRI Board of Directors' system. "Ease of use was critical for adoption," comments Fonseca. "Our CEO was able to learn how to use the system in less than 20 minutes and I have full confidence that our Board members will be up to speed with minimal training as well."
Other top criteria for BCBSRI included security, version control and an audit trail. When communication among the Board and senior staff was purely in e-mail, it was very difficult to track and collaboration was slow and error prone. WorkSite MP provides a centralized location for all participants to review documents, post questions and responses, and view calendars and to-do lists, providing a complete audit trail and eliminating confusing e-mail threads. With WorkSite MP, it is clear to all participants who has made what changes and when.
