JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) has promoted Cyrus “Russ” Jollivette to senior vice president of Public Affairs. In his new role, Jollivette will further enhance the strategic focus of Public Affairs, providing executive leadership for community relations, corporate communications, executive communications, governmental and legislative relations, public policy and signature programs.

Jollivette joined BCBSF in 2002 as group vice president of Public Affairs following a distinguished career in university administration and public and government relations. Prior to joining BCBSF, he established a consulting practice representing private sector clients in Washington, D.C. From 1977 to 2001, Jollivette held a number of senior executive positions at the University of Miami, including leading public affairs, government relations, university advancement and corporate relations. In addition to other higher education assignments, he served as managing editor of the Miami Times, producer- moderator of Perspective for the then NBC-affiliate WSVN-TV, Miami Beach, and as government relations principal in the Jorden Burt law firm based in Washington, D.C.
Throughout his career, Jollivette has been active in government, community and non-profit organizations in both the Jacksonville and Miami communities. He most recently was named to the Jacksonville Airport Authority’s board of directors by Mayor John Peyton. He is the secretary of the board of trustees of St. Thomas University, Miami, as well as a member of the board of governors of the statewide Florida Chamber of Commerce. He has twice served on the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Miami-Dade County; chaired the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Washington, D.C.; and served as a member and chair of the Public Health Trust of Miami-Dade County and the Biracial/Triethnic Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Jollivette also is a life member of Miami’s Orange Bowl Committee, a director of the United Way of Northeast Florida, a director of The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida and serves as a board member of the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee.
Jollivette holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from C.W. Post College, master of business administration in management from Long Island University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
