PLEASANTON, Calif., May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Documentum, the leading provider of enterprise content management and a division of EMC Corporation , today announced that the Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA), the largest provider of health care coverage in the state, has standardized on Documentum to manage its enterprise content. An existing Documentum customer, HMSA has extended its use of the Documentum ECM platform, and is integrating ApertureOne for Documentum from Documentum Alliance partner, Acartus, for a comprehensive, integrated report management solution that will help HMSA reduce operating expenses and accelerate content accessibility by managing and storing its reports in Documentum.
HMSA is a nonprofit, mutual benefit society founded in 1938, dedicated to helping control health care costs by providing quality, affordable health plans and employee benefit services. The company originally deployed Documentum as a platform for managing electronic documents -- claims and enrollment documents -- and integrated it with a content capture solution. The integration enables HMSA to capture its claims, enrollment documentation and other content into the Documentum repository, replacing an aged, rigid microfilm solution and external scanning. Next, HMSA sought to bring higher levels of automation to managing its enterprise reports.
HMSA, like all organizations in the insurance industry, creates and manages numerous reports on a daily basis. Looking to gain efficiency and reduce printing, archiving and distribution costs, the company chose ApertureOne for Documentum from Acartus because of its tight integration with Documentum. The combined solution will enable HMSA to archive, index, manage and quickly access enterprise reports and other computer-generated content directly from the Documentum platform, and allow reports from other enterprise applications to be easily imported into Documentum, managed as content and distributed to users.
"Leveraging the Documentum ECM platform and ApertureOne from Acartus, HMSA will improve the services we offer our customers and employees," said Linda Bilek, senior project manager, HMSA. "We are replacing older technology and anticipate that this integrated enterprise report management solution will lower our total cost of ownership and enhance our productivity and access to content."
"The Documentum Enterprise Report Management solution offers mainframe-level scale and performance, enabling organizations across all industries to manage reports on the same platform as other business-critical content," said Dave DeWalt, president of the Documentum software division of EMC. "In integrating the Documentum ECM platform for both content capture and managing its reports, HMSA clearly demonstrates the openness and extensibility of Documentum. We look forward to meeting HMSA's evolving requirements."
