EMERYVILLE, Calif., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bionovo, Inc. today announced that its founders Mary Tagliaferri and Isaac Cohen each closed on the private sale of 250,000 shares of common stock to JP Morgan Investment Management Inc., Global Life Science Fund, NY, for an aggregate sale of 500,000 shares at a price of $1.60 per share.
On January 21, 2007, Bionovo raised gross proceeds of approximately $15.7 million in a private placement financing. Due to certain by-law restrictions of JP Morgan’s Funds it was unable to participate in the private placement of unregistered shares. Bionovo’s founders, Isaac Cohen, President and CEO and Mary Tagliaferri, Sr. Vice President and CMO accommodated JP Morgan’s desire to acquire Bionovo shares by each selling JP Morgan’s Global Science Fund 250,000 shares. This number of shares constitutes slightly under 2.5% of their personal holdings in Bionovo.
“We are excited to have JP Morgan’s Global Science Fund invest in Bionovo and show their support of our development initiatives,” said Isaac Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of Bionovo.
