Littleton Adventist Hospital Announces Plans For $38 Million Expansion

LITTLETON, Colo., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Littleton Adventist Hospital today announced plans to complete a $38 million expansion to better serve the health care needs of south metro Denver’s growing community. The project includes the addition of three new floors to the hospital’s south bed tower to help increase Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and surgical capabilities and to allow for future growth and expansion needs. Construction will begin in February 2005.

The additional south tower floors will house 24 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 32 medical/surgical beds, bringing the total bed count to 231, to support Littleton Hospital’s Level II trauma services, surgical and neurosurgery services. Construction will also include additional shell space for future growth and expansion plans. Total square footage for new construction and renovation is 85,100.

“We are excited about this opportunity to grow and expand with our community,” said David Crane, CEO of Littleton Hospital. “In the 15 years since we opened our doors, we have seen an exceptional increase in patient volume. This expansion will enable us to better serve our community by increasing our capacity to care for the most critically ill patients.”

GE Johnson Construction Company was awarded the construction project. Architect Earl Swensson Associates, in conjunction with Adams Project Management, will oversee expansion plan design and construction.
