LOUISVILLE, Colo., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Medivance, Inc., the leader in the emerging field of non-invasive therapeutic temperature management, today announced it has received approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) to market its novel Arctic Sun(R) Temperature Management System in Japan.
The Arctic Sun is a precise non-invasive patient cooling system that quickly and easily controls, monitors, and maintains core body temperature at therapeutic levels. A growing body of research demonstrates that inducing mild hypothermia, or reducing high fevers, potentially has a protective effect that decreases brain damage caused by cardiac arrest, stroke, brain injury, trauma, and other critical illnesses.
IMI Co. Ltd. is Medivance's exclusive distributor in Japan. The Arctic Sun has undergone clinical trials at Nihon University School of Medicine and Kokura Memorial Hospital.
