MTPConnect Makes Inroads In The U.S. Through MoU With Medical Alley Association At The 2017 MedTech Conference

• MTPConnect and Medical Alley Association sign MoU to increase collaboration between US and Australian markets

• A delegation of 29 Australian medical technology companies, research organisations and industry bodies connect with the US market and showcase Australia’s strengths at The MedTech Conference in San Jose

Tuesday 26 October 2017, San Jose, United States of America—MTPConnect, the Medical Technologies, Biotechnologies and Pharmaceuticals Industry Growth Centre have today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Medical Alley Association, an organisation based in Minnesota that enables health innovation and care organisations to innovate, succeed and influence the evolution of healthcare.

The MoU was signed at the 2017 MedTech Conference in San Jose, by Dr Alfredo Martinez-Coll, MTPConnect General Manager of Stakeholder Engagement and Shaye Mandle, Chief Executive Officer of The Medical Alley Association, to increase collaboration on activities that boost the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, health and medical technology sectors of both Australia and the United States.

The two organisations will work together on activities such as providing introductions and in-market support in their respective jurisdictions, exchanging information on key issues and trends, supporting inbound and outbound missions, and the delivery of joint events and projects.

Dr Alfredo Martinez-Coll said: “The MedTech Conference brings together the best-of-the-best in the international medical technologies sector, and has provided the perfect platform for MTPConnect and Medical Alley to sign an MoU to align our two organisations and collaborate to strengthen the growth of our respective markets.

MTPConnect led a delegation of 29 Australian companies, research organisations and industry bodies to The MedTech Conference to showcase Australia’s outstanding innovative medical technology companies and build invaluable inroads into international markets. Led by Dr Alfredo Martinez-Coll and Elizabeth Stares, Director of Major Projects at MTPConnect the impressive Australian delegation includes CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), Analytica Medical, Life Whisperer Diagnostics, TechInSA and the Graeme Clark Institute from The University of Melbourne.

The MedTech Conference in San Jose provides those in the medical technology sector with an invaluable opportunity to connect with thousands of international professionals on policy, innovation, business development and investment. CSIRO and Austrade (The Australian Trade and Investment Commission), presented to the international audience in a panel session titled ‘Why Australia’, highlighting Australia’s thriving medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical ecosystem, generous incentive programs, strong credentials in medical devices and diagnostic development and strong clinical trials sector. As well as attending the full program of events at the conference, the Australian delegation also took part in a tour of the Boston Scientific CRM manufacturing site, and presentations from the Medical Device Innovation Consortia, Hogan Lovells attorneys, and The Medical Alley Association.
