NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- QED International Associates Inc, administrator for the HealthShares(TM) Exchange-Traded Funds, a series of 20 underlying fund portfolios, today announced that effective at the opening of trading on Monday November 5, 2007 BioSphere Medical Inc. will replace Kyphon INC. , in the HealthShares(TM) Cardio Devices Index, The Corin Group will replace KYPH in the HealthShares(TM) Orthopedic Repair Index, and LiveCell Corp, will replace KYPH in the HealthShares(TM) Composite Index. Kyphon is being acquired by Medtronic Inc .
Companies included in the Cardio Devices Index engage in the manufacture, distribution, and commercialization of medical devices for the treatment of cardiac, vascular, and endovascular disorders and diseases, including but not limited to stents, valves, patches, pumps, defibrillators, pacemakers, sutures and sensors/ chips.
Companies included in the Orthopedic Repair Index are engaged in the manufacturing, distribution, and/or commercialization of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and/or regenerative medicine for the treatment of bone, cartilage, tendon, muscle, ligament, maxillofacial and dental elements, excluding periodontal and skin conditions or disorders.
