ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2005--SureScripts, the nation’s largest network provider of electronic prescribing services, has announced an agreement with Epic Systems Corporation to connect the EpicCare EMR to the SureScripts network, enabling thousands of physicians and other prescribers in large practices to prescribe electronically. The agreement was made possible by SureScripts’ recent enhancement to its network to allow software reliant on the HL7 protocol (which is standard for EMRs) to communicate with software reliant on the NCPDP SCRIPT protocol (which is standard for pharmacy). To date, SureScripts has agreements with, tested and certified to connect to its network the software of pharmacies and pharmacy technology vendors representing more than 85% of the nation’s pharmacies.
