“We are fortunate to have someone with Mr. Stellar’s talents, experience and perspective at URAC’s helm,” said Garry Carneal, URAC president and CEO. “As one of the original founders of URAC, Charles Stellar has played a key role in the steady development of the organization into one of the nation’s premier accrediting agencies for health care organizations.”
Since its founding in 1990, URAC has grown from a single-specialty accreditation program to a leading voice for promoting quality in health care, offering a wide array of accreditation and certification programs that span the health care spectrum. URAC’s growth and success have been due largely to the leadership of its Board of Directors, representing a broad array of health care stakeholders, including providers, consumers, purchasers, regulators and industry representatives.
“URAC has played a key role in improving the quality of services delivered by HMOs, PPOs and other organizations through their continuous development of meaningful accreditation programs,” said Mr. Stellar. “It has been a wonderful experience to serve as a Board member and contribute to URAC’s success, and I hope to continue to fuel its growth and evolution as Chairperson.”
As executive vice president of AHIP, Mr. Stellar spearheads the association’s dues and non-dues revenue initiatives of America’s largest national trade organization representing the full spectrum of health insurance plans. Under his leadership, the association initiated an aggressive business solutions strategy and is successfully establishing partnership arrangements with nationally recognized companies and industry solution providers.
