(Omaha, NE; June 25, 2012) – Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association, (Bio Nebraska) a nonprofit trade association dedicated to the development and growth of Nebraska’s bioscience industry, concluded a very successful trip to the BIO International Convention in Boston. Bio Nebraska Executive Director Phil Kozera and leaders of the life science industry throughout the state showcased the national and global impact of the Nebraska life science industry.
More than 20 representatives from the private sector, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the University of Nebraska represented Nebraska life sciences. Among the featured attendees were Benchmark Biolabs, GeneSeek, Nebraska Innovation Campus and Nature Technology Corporation. Bio Nebraska and its partners are active in animal health, biomass, biofuels, bioprocessing, biotherapeutics, crop and water resource management, food service safety and regenerative medicine.
“This was an opportunity for us to showcase Nebraska’s life science industry to a global audience,” Kozera said. “We have a dynamic group and great synergy in Nebraska. I think this was evident based on the conversations that we had with people this week. There were several successful meetings with businessess, researchers and venture capitalists that we hope will lead to increased business and funding opportunities for our members.”
Bio Nebraska supports basic research in the life sciences, aids in the development of a highly educated work force and provides a welcoming environment to attract new and expanding businesses.
