BIOTECanada Release: Canadian Biotech Goes Global

SAN DIEGO & OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BIOTECanada launched BIO 2017 by chairing the annual meeting of International Council of Biotechnology Associations (ICBA) which brings together the national industry associations of the twenty leading biotechnology nations around the world.

“I welcome the opportunity to Chair the ICBA,” commented Andrew Casey, President and CEO BIOTECanada. “BIOTECanada looks forward to helping shape the industry’s international public policy agenda, showcasing individual country success and the interconnected global biotech ecosystem. Global Biotech Week running September 20-27, 2017 will provide a further opportunity to highlight the industry’s significance internationally as companies attract partners, investors and talent to drive innovations forward.”

With over 800 Canadians from across the country attending BIO, Canada’s is again the largest international delegation at the annual industry convention.

Importantly, through the BIOTECanada cost saving initiative, more than 100 small and medium sized BIOTECanada member companies were able to take advantage of significant savings on BIO registration and passes to the business partnering forum.

To support member companies and their ecosystem partnerships BIOTECanada recently released Discover, Innovate, Solve. The Science of Amazing – Canada’s Biotech Ecosystem. This platform highlights the central role Canadian biotechnology plays in delivering innovative solutions helping societies and economies mitigate and adapt to the reality of challenging pressures.
