Catalent Pharma Solutions to Present at The Sterilization Technology Today and Tomorrow Conference in San Francisco

Research Triangle Park, N.C. – March 2, 2009 – Patty Kiang, Ph.D., the account director of Northern California/Pacific Northwest territory at Catalent Pharma Solutions, will present at the Sterilization Technology Today and Tomorrow conference to be held in San Francisco, C.A., March 2-3, 2009. The conference will review existing and future technologies for the sterilization of materials, components and finished bio/pharmaceutical products in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Kiang’s presentation is titled “Challenges and Solutions in Stopper Sterilization.” A rubber stopper is a critical part of sterile injectable packaging. Depending on the material composition and design, the stopper quality can be affected by the various modes of sterilization (i.e., Ethylene Oxide (EtO), steam or radiation). Both “Ready to Use" and "Ready to Sterilize" stoppers are commercially available and precautions will be discussed for the selection of sterilization and drying processes.
