Residents, Communities and Organizations Throughout EQT’s Operating Areas Benefit from the Foundation’s Strong Support

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The EQT Foundation awarded a record of more than $7.7 million in grants, scholarships, and other charitable contributions to non-profit organizations and programs throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia during 2018. Additionally, the Foundation matched charitable contributions made by employees and directors of EQT Corporation and its subsidiaries on a dollar-for-dollar basis, totaling more than $1.2 million in 2018.

Since its launch in 2003, the EQT Foundation has donated nearly $58 million to nonprofits that are making a difference in the lives of the individuals and families they serve.

The EQT Foundation funds groups and programs in EQT’s operating areas. It supports the development of diverse neighborhoods, the preservation of the environment and local natural resources, and local programs that promote a greater understanding and appreciation of arts and culture. The Foundation helps communities prosper by supporting entities such as local fire departments, food banks, and education-focused resources for children – especially in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines. In fact, nearly half of 2018’s charitable giving went toward educational initiatives. Highlights include:

Intermediate Unit 1 Educational Foundation: In partnership with Chevron and the Benedum Foundation, the Foundation’s mini-grants are designed to spark innovation, foster engineering talent and promote creativity in communities across Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia;

Pennsylvania Envirothon: The organization creates teaching tools for high school natural resource enthusiasts in Greene and Washington counties in Pennsylvania;

Lemoyne Community Center: The Community Center, located in Washington, Pennsylvania, provides educational and leadership opportunities to students outside of the classroom;

West Virginia University STEM Ambassador Program: Through the program, WVU undergrads teach STEM topics to local youth at summer camps;

Friends of the St. Clairsville Public Library: The organization supplies educational materials to enhance outreach and in-library programs for youth in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

“We are committed to supporting activities and organizations that enrich communities because we want to be a good neighbor to residents and help improve their lives,” said Dave Smith, President of EQT Foundation. “By providing financial, in-kind and human capital, we are making a difference.”
