FloDesign Sonics is rapidly commercializing their disruptive platform for CAR T manufacturing and other cell and gene therapy applications. To accomplish this, they are building out expertise in sales, business development, operations and product development.

Richard Grant was brought on board in early 2018 as Chief Product Officer after 17 years at Invetech. For 15 of those years, Richard was involved in developing cell and gene therapy automation equipment and disposables. He led Invetech’s first cell therapy projects, after establishing an office in San Diego as VP & Operations Manager, he returned to run their Cell Therapy group as Global VP of Cell Therapy.
Tim Taga joined FloDesign Sonics shortly after as the Technical and Application Support Engineer in the operations organization. Tim works directly with customers insuring successful incorporation of the acoustic technology into their manufacturing process. Tim has over 40 years of engineering experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical and laboratory devices from his previous roles at Terumo BCT.
Tod Herman joined as VP of Operations focusing on bringing operational excellence to the manufacturing of both hardware and consumables as well as supplier management. Tod has an extensive history in bioprocessing and cell and gene therapy after his role as Co-Founder and Sr Design Engineer at kSep and roles at KBI Biopharma before that.
Dr Nina Bauer, a key figure in the cell and gene therapy community came on board in September as VP of Business Development. She is going to lead the commercial aspects of establishing, launching, and further adoption of this disruptive technology. Previously Nina led Lonza’s Autologous Cell Therapy business, with manufacturing sites in the US and Europe. As part of this role, she was also in charge of establishing novel manufacturing technologies, most notably the Octane CocoonTM platform.
Prior to joining Lonza, Nina held business development roles at the Cell Therapy Catapult (London), and the University of Edinburgh, and worked as Life Science Consultant for regenerative medicine businesses.
Kevin Lannon also joined in September as Global Sales Director responsible for building client relations and managing all aspects of customer interactions with FloDesign. Previously he was Field Marketing Manager for the Regen Med group at Sartorius Stedim Biotech. There he focused on the adoption of the abmbr® platform developed by Tap Biosystems, later acquired by SSB. He specializes in cell and gene therapy manufacturing workflows, and automation for both PD and commercial manufacture of bio-pharmaceuticals, stem cell therapies, gene modified cell therapies, viral vectors, and protein-based therapeutics.
