IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 16, 2008) - Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (NYSE: EW), the world leader in the science of heart valves, announced today that the District Court of Düsseldorf, Germany, has rejected its assertion that CoreValve, Inc., is infringing Edwards' German patent for its transcatheter heart valve technology. The company remains convinced that CoreValve's product infringes Edwards' intellectual property and will promptly appeal this decision. The ruling has no effect on sales of the Edwards SAPIEN transcatheter heart valve in Germany or anywhere else.
