Gaithersburg-based GlycoMimetics Inc. has filed to raise as much as $86 million in an initial public offering amid a busy season for biotech IPOs, both nationally and in the D.C. area. GlycoMimetics is led by Rachel King, a high-profile voice on life sciences policy who chairs the Biotechnology Industry Organization, or BIO. It is the second Maryland biotech to file for a public offering in recent weeks, following oncology-focused MacroGenics Inc.
