Inflammation Marker Linked To Eye Deterioration

Elevated blood levels of C-reactive protein, a molecular marker of inflammation already associated with heart disease and stroke, increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration, a new study finds. Seddon, a surgeon in ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Her report appears in the Feb. 11 issue of Journal of the American Medical Association.
