JWCF Also Announces Grants Awarded To An Outstanding Four JWCI Alumni Fellows

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF), whose mission is to bring courage, strength and grit to the fight against cancer, announces support for a new affiliation between the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI) Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program, a worldwide leader in multidisciplinary training in academic surgical oncology, and the UC Irvine Medical (UCI) Center by providing housing for rotating fellows. Senior Fellows now have the opportunity to expand their clinical skills at the esteemed academic medical center.

This year four grants have been provided to Dr. Anthony Lucci for Developing Liquid Biopsy Profiles for Melanoma Patients Receiving PD-1 Therapies, Department of Surgical Oncology, Division of Surgery at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center; Dr. Perry Shen for Ex-vivo Theranostic Nanodelivery System in Pancreas Cancer, Director of Liver and Pancreas Program at Wake Forest University Health Science; Dr. Joseph Kim for Feasibility of Endoscopic Gastric Cancer Organoids to Optimize Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy, Division of Surgical Oncology University of Kentucky Research Foundation; and Dr. Katherine Yao for Patient Values in Surgical Decision Making for Breast Cancer Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at NorthShore University HealthSystem.
