Johnson & Johnson Rises On Strong Q2 Results

Market responds to strong sales and EPS numbers... Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported a second quarter sales increase of 11.1% and an EPS of $.82 vs. $0.40 a year ago. Excluding non-recurring charges, EPS increased 17.1%. The non-recurring charges of $900MM included costs associated with the acquisition of Scios Inc. and Link Spine Group Inc. Domestic sales were up 9.1% while international sales increased 14.1%. Some of the performance was due to favorable currency conditions. Of the international sales increases, 6.3% was due to positive currency impact, the remainder came from operations.
