What: The Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation’s (MassBioEd) 4th Annual Life Sciences Workforce Conference will advance discussion on workforce development issues related to the life sciences industry and will seek to increase engagement and collaboration between higher education and industry. MassBioEd will also present updates on the overall hiring trends in the industry as preview of the Annual Job Trends Forecast, which will be published at the end of June.
When: Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 8am – 3:45pm ET
Where: Northeastern University ISEC Building, 805 Columbus Ave, Boston MA 02120
Who: Katherine Newman, Interim Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts, will shed light on the increasing demand for a college-educated talent pool and share the valuable contributions that UMass continues to deliver to the state’s life sciences workforce. Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, Rosalin Acosta, will moderate a discussion on innovative programs that open pathways for non-traditional candidates to enter the life sciences industry. A diverse group of speakers will debate a range of issues from how immigration laws affect the life sciences community; how hiring decisions are made at local life sciences companies; and career opportunities in biomanufacturing and bioinformatics.
