Smiths Detection has announced that its new HI-SCAN 10080 XCT high-speed checked baggage scanner, which incorporates Analogic's advanced computed tomography (CT) imaging technology, has successfully gained European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Standard 3 approval. Standard 3 approval is mandatory for new aviation explosive detection system (EDS) applications beginning in September 2014.
