New Spin-Off VivoStema to Explore Treatment for Spinal Cord Injuries

Stem cell research advocates from California and the Birmingham area have formed a company that plans to start researching a potential remedy for spinal cord injuries. Raj Singh, CEO and founder of Vivo Biosciences, a Magic City biotech firm, told me that he, along with others heavily involved in stem cell work, have collaborated to form VivoStem Inc. The company, which he said was established in August, plans to base its work on patented stem cells developed by a University of California Irvine researcher and his firm’s own patented product.
