Triangle Business Journal - by James Gallagher -- Wilmington-based PPD Inc. says it will spend $28 million to expand its lab services division in Henrico County, Va.
The clinical research organization (Nasdaq: PPDI) says the project will create 190 jobs over the next three years. Henrico County is just outside the state capital of Richmond.
The company will receive up to $650,000 in economic development grants from Henrico County and the state. The state will provide a $150,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Henrico with the project, and the state has approved $500,000 in a performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership.
PPD employs about 1,400 in the Triangle.
