SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Solazyme, Inc., a renewable oil production company and leading algal synthetic biology company, announced that Dr. Arthur Grossman, chief of genetics, has been awarded the Gilbert Morgan Smith Medal for excellence in published research on marine or freshwater algae. The award, which only recognizes one scientist every three years, was established through the Helen P. Smith Fund and is awarded by the National Academy of Sciences.
