BioSafety Solutions LLC offers compliance management solutions to help organizations develop, execute and maintain sustainable biosafety programs
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Southern Research Institute today announced the creation of BioSafety Solutions LLC (BSL), a consulting company that will provide services ranging from technical and operational support for existing biosafety and biosecurity programs, to the development and implementation of comprehensive programs for high containment laboratories and organizations involved in life science research and development. Southern Research Institute is a not-for-profit organization that conducts basic and applied research in the areas of preclinical drug discovery and development, advanced engineering, environmental and energy production.

Debra Sharpe was named president of BioSafety Solutions LLC (www.bslsolutions.com). Sharpe has over 20 years experience in bringing academic, private sector, and not-for-profit organizations in the biosafety and biosecurity fields into compliance with OSHA, EPA, USDA/CDC, NFPA and NIH regulations. In her position at Southern Research, Sharpe has led the infectious disease contract research group and currently manages the compliance and physical security programs at its facilities in Birmingham, Ala. and Frederick, Md. The operational and training programs and systems developed under Sharpe’s guidance have been widely recognized as state of the art for ensuring the protection of its researchers, employees, and the public at large. Her organization also includes the quality assurance (FDA, Good Laboratory Practice) and environmental health and safety groups.
