BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jacqueline (Jacki) Rams has joined Southern Research Institute to lead efforts to secure and increase federally funded research programs. Rams will report directly to John A. “Jack” Secrist, Ph.D., president and CEO of Southern Research. She will initially focus her efforts in creating new funding opportunities in Drug Discovery and Drug Development.
“Jacki Rams has a well established track record in generating new business opportunities for government contractors. We have made enhancements to our commercial business development efforts, but government funding is also an important arena, so we don’t want to overlook opportunities there,” said Dr. Secrist. “We are happy to have Jacki join us and become part of our strategic business development efforts.”
Rams will be based in the Washington, DC area. She began her career as a chemist with the U.S. Army Chemical Munitions Systems, Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland. Since that time, she has held a number of business development positions for companies such as Jacobs Engineering, AIG Consultants, Burns & Roe Enterprises, Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, and has consulted for DynCorp International, LLC, URS EG&Gm and Geomet Technologies.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Honors from Mt. St. Agnes-Loyola College, and completed one year of full-time graduate Ph.D. work in the Physical Chemistry Program at Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, Women in Defense, ASME, and the American Nuclear Society, and was elected to Sigma Xi.
