Stratos Genomics Announces Major Molecular Engineering Achievement

Stratos Genomics Inc. today announced it has achieved a break-through in the reduction of the SBX™ (Sequencing by Expansion™) probe library. The original commercialization path for SBX was a 256 tetramer probe library. An undisclosed $2 million Series A-5 funding closed in the fall of 2013 based on demonstrated sequence reads of 210 base length. This funding supported the completion of the expandable monomer library (A, C, G, T) last month. Fisk Ventures led the A-5 round. Coinciding with JP Morgan Healthcare Conference, Stratos Genomics' management team will be in San Francisco this week meeting with corporations and venture capitalists.

"The completion of the expandable nucleotide library by Mark Kokoris (CSO) and his molecular engineering team is revolutionary," Stratos Genomics CEO Allan Stephan said. "Discussions beginning this week in San Francisco are intended to finalize our strategy for our commercialization phase," Stephan continued.

As further validation of SBX technology, Stratos Genomics has added a new Science Advisory Board member, Todd Smith, recently retired from Perkin Elmer (PKI). PKI acquired his bioinformatics company Geospiza in 2011.
