MUNDELEIN, Ill., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc., a subsidiary of Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan, ceremoniously breaks ground today in Mundelein, Illinois for the company’s $12 million diagnostic reagent manufacturing plant. When operational in April 2007, this state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will substantially increase Sysmex America’s current reagent production capacity -- crucial as demands for Sysmex hematology products continue to rise, said Kazuya Obe, CEO, Sysmex America, Inc. Sysmex offers hematology, urinalysis, coagulation instrumentation and reagents, in addition to laboratory work area management systems and a web-based physician portal solution. The groundbreaking follows the company’s 2005 third quarter announcement to build an operational infrastructure for the direct sales, marketing, service and support for the company’s hematology products in the U.S. The company’s existing California reagent plant is scheduled for closure June 2008.
The 53,755 square foot building, which will adjoin Sysmex America’s corporate office building, will be owned by Sysmex Reagents America, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sysmex America, Inc. Architects and project construction will be overseen by the U.S. office of Takenaka Corporation, the first construction company to ever win the Deming Prize and the Nippon Quality Control Medal in recognition of their company’s Total Quality Management efforts. Actual project construction begins May 1.
“With the support and guidance of the Village of Mundelein and its cooperative agencies, the Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Area (GLMV) Chamber of Commerce, local suppliers and labor resources, we are looking forward to commencing the construction phase of this project. This milestone moves us closer to our overall strategic plan of firmly establishing Sysmex America as a single point of contact for many of our hematology customers, contributing to the diagnosis and care of patients and to the efficiency of laboratory operations for our nation’s healthcare facilities,” Obe added.
Guest speakers for the groundbreaking ceremony include the Honorable Kenneth H. Kessler, Mayor, Village of Mundelein, and Mr. Kazuya Obe, CEO, Sysmex America, Inc. This new plant will create twenty new jobs to facilitate operation needs.
