The Jackson Laboratory Genomic Medicine Appoints Computational Biologist to Faculty

Farmington, Conn.—The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine has appointed Stanford University computational biologist Zhengqing Ouyang, Ph.D., as assistant professor.

Ouyang is working in the interdisciplinary area of systems biology, genomics, and statistics. He will develop statistical methods for analysis of data from novel technologies to reveal new layers of biology. He will also develop predictive models for integrative analysis of high-throughput sequencing and functional genomics data. He aims to facilitate the understanding of the global gene regulatory network in cellular processes and human diseases.

Ouyang received Ph.D. training at Stanford University in the laboratory of Wing Hung Wong. Since 2010, Ouyang carried out postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Michael Snyder and Howard Chang at Stanford University School of Medicine.

The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution based in Bar Harbor, Maine, with a facility in Sacramento, Calif., and a new genomic medicine institute in Farmington, Conn. It employs a total staff of more than 1,400. Its mission is to discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health.
