Finding a job right out of college can seem like a daunting task, especially in a competitive market like the life science industry. Most job listings will require at least a few years of experience, and it’s difficult to know where to even begin looking.

To help, BioSpace has compiled a list of the top companies hiring new grads for entry-level roles, conveniently grouped by location across the U.S. so you can find the perfect role for you.

Biotech Bay

The Biotech Bay Hotbed includes San Francisco and Northern California, and the life science hub there is one of the most competitive in the country. If the bay area is where you want to begin your career, Amgen is looking to fill several entry-level positions, the most recent of which is a Salesforce Developer role.

Biotech Beach

The Biotech Beach hotbed encompasses all of Southern California. If the sunnier side of the state is where you’re looking to land, Fate Therapeutics, Inc. and Amgen are currently looking for new grads to fill openings in San Diego and Los Angeles, respectively.

BioMidwest

The BioMidwest hotbed is the largest, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. Forge Biologics is the top company hiring new grads in this region, with entry-level listings in Columbus, Ohio.

BioNC

The Bio NC Hotbed was specifically created for Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. This is largely due to the fact that the state is home to pharma giant FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, which is currently looking for a new grad to fill an entry-level, full-time engineering position.

BioForest

The BioForest Hotbed includes Oregon and Washington. If the Pacific Northwest is where you call home, Astellas Pharma is looking for an entry-level research associate to work at its facility in Seattle, Washington.

Genetown

Located in Massachusetts, Genetown is the hotbed many think of when they picture the country’s hub for pharma and biotech companies. The Genetown Hotbed has ample opportunity for growth, and currently, Syner-G BioPharma Group and AbbVie are both hiring for entry-level positions.

PharmCountry

The Pharm Country Hotbed includes Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. For those who want to work in this region, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals has entry-level positions open in New York, and Pfizer has entry-level roles open in both New York and Connecticut.

Lone Star Bio

The Lone Star Bio Hotbed is Texas’ hotbed, and both Houston and Austin are home to some of the top up-and-coming biopharma companies in the country. In addition to its North Carolina facility, FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies also has a location in Texas, where it is currently looking for the right candidate to fill several entry-level roles.
