TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 21, 2015) - Titan Medical Inc. ("Titan" or the "Company") (TMD.TO) (TITXF) today announced that it has built the initial SPORT™ Surgical Systems to include both the work station and the patient cart and will undergo extensive testing as a part of Engineering Verification (EV). These two EV systems will be tested to measure performance in relation to design specifications and to measure compliance with regulatory guidelines. These EV systems are precursors of the systems that will be built in early 2016 for first-in-human trials.
Dennis Fowler, EVP, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs, stated, "This fully integrated initial EV system represents the efforts of many people at Titan, our Surgeon Advisory Board and our development contractors. This is a major accomplishment for Titan as we move toward our first-in-human trials."
John Hargrove, Chairman and CEO of Titan Medical Inc., commented, "I am very pleased and excited that we are able to finish off the year with such a positive accomplishment. I would encourage readers to visit our web site at www.titanmedicalinc.com where we have posted pictures of this complete initial SPORT Surgical System."
About Titan Medical Inc.
Titan Medical Inc. is a Canadian public company focused on the design and development of a robotic surgical system for application in minimally invasive surgery ("MIS").
